beauty sometimes just is not within

I've looked and looked at Kristen Stewart online and I've got to say it was difficult to find images not relating to Twilight or her success because of the franchise. She has a very odd look though I'm finding it difficult to define her. She's not conventional, quite clearly, she does actually represent Bella Swan how Bella Swan sees herself - plain. Obviously the application of make-up does help, but this underlying urge to argue how she even came by the role because of her obvious lack of talent for acting. Harsh, but true. She's beautiful in the way she holds herself, not on camera but she clearly doesn't give a shit, so good for her. The movie the runaways, despite acting, painted her in the better light moving her more to the words artist than plain jane.

I have had this on draft for months and want to change the direction of the blog so I'm more or less fishing out the rubbish from my drafts, then starting over.

Anyway, Taylor Swift is beautiful, not in keeping with my classic indie girl fad, but the complete opposite, pink, sparkly and supremely girlish. But I do love these images, they are unique and in a rare collection for an internet site. But I thought they were natural. Unplugged from her mic and just being Taylor, in my eyes.

we are not so different, you and i.

This fashion story, partly from Vogue, the others in the water posted by the same person, show a haunting beauty which for some reason, was less about the fashion, and more about the models this time. It felt like some kind of witch-craft or magical bond between the girls. The posing is careless and unknowingly loose. Which, in term makes it all the more natural. I just wanted to share these pictures, once again, from weheartit.com.

Driftwood and Trickets

I liked the colour of the sky at this time of night. It was about 6pm and in early summer when the sun is blocked by the house, the sky is a lovely dim blue. I wanted to try the depth-of-field so using the small book I go some nice effects. The framed undeveloped photo was against a lamp-light which made some interesting shots, I just wanted to share it.

Kathleen

I was at a party with some of my friends and I brought the canon 550D because I wanted some decent shots because of the whole end of year 11 memories thing - we felt a little deprived of pictures of some really fun things we've done.

But, I took the opportunity to ask my lovely friend Kathleen if I could take some pictures of her. On the P setting the Aperature was just right as the overhead windows let in this natural light and made Kathleen's face glow, which generally when the light is at the back of the person, the face is usually under-exposed. However it came out quite well, I didn't need the Portrait shooting mode; which would've meant I would've needed a flash.

The Blooming of Agyness Deyn

Born orginally as Laura Hollins, in Manchester, Agyness Deyn (now 28) won Britain's Next Top Model and is now one of the biggest european models covering Vogue twice and Harpers Bazaar. I love her unique look which, to me is quite special as she seems quite innocent and (this maybe because of the platinum hair) quite pure and fresh. You could almost imagine her being the perfect model for a Locoste campaign simply because she matches the fresh, clean polo, golf fashion Lacoste brings.

I loved the photographs in black and white of her, they really bring out her natural bone structure and angular face. Making her face seem somehow softer, however the clarity of the pictures makes her seem this kind of unnatural beauty without make-up.

I was so happy when I saw Agyness was walking for Chanel because the natural feminity that Chanel brings really contrasts beautifully with her tomboyish style. Many articles in Vogue and Bazaar and fashion icons have always said that fashion changes but style is eternal and I really think with the introduction of Cary Mulligan and Emma Watson's newly cropped pixy cuts are really showing off this tomboyish style which is ageless from the 1960's for young to older women.

Colour Blindness and Depth of Field

I wanted to try the depth of field and close-ups. These worked quite well as the hand one I had to focus and after a couple of tries it did work. I wanted quite simple photo of the full face to see and I thought they were quite interesting results on the canon 550D.

Melting Sun

This evening I was experimenting with miniature objects. I was using a small glass bottle, a matchbox I altered for an experiment in art which I kept for trickets. I thought it would be interesting on my windowsill because it was all chapped and had white paint flakes so the kind of broken, less attractive natural side of the objects inside the bottle and box would come out. Though I thought I would share what I was actually looking out at this evening on the balcony in the loft of my house. It was one of the most intense, vibrantly colourful, bloodied sky's I've ever seen, with swirling melting clouds and firey oranges and reds. At one point I caught purples and pinks. It was interesting as I used the canon 500D to shoot it; I used the shutter Tv mode on about 1/13 speed to get this melted look which in term helped to bring out the colours. I was impressed but the pinky, purple colours the Landscape setting brought however I loved using the monoschrome as it created an entirely different look.

Don't think I'm being vein but I wanted to check the effect of the colours on objects and reflections on people. So on a small tripod and the self-timer P setting I took some of me, which, I found quite successful as the lighting was not as under-exsposed as I initially suspected it to be too dim.

Winter's Bone

 

 


 
 


I was looking at my photos from the old canon 350D and I came across some photos from the cottage we stayed in, in winter. I think the most extreme weather conditions can often be the most beautiful. The snow we had was inconvenient to say the least and most people were only looking at the bad sides of it, the traffic, the conjestion, christmas hold-ups which were all bad and disppointing. But I want to show the photo's I have found that were particularly beautiful.


The white on white are often mistaken and sometimes the snow almost could be in black and white when they are pictured in colour. I think there is a real sense of mystery in the limitted yet azure, fabulous colour palett you get when photographing the snow. I think it is one of the most interesting things to photograph as it brings out the world no-matter where and when in a good beautiful light. The colours of the city, the crystal lanscapes.


Though it is not Winter and we have just left it, I like looking back on it and the changeable nature of our world, I love the way photos help us look back on the beauty we often miss.

Gaga for Gaga

This weekend I bought the new Lady Gaga album, I already think it's great because though it is a pop album gaga manages to make the all of the songs really different and personal. I think that even though she's completely crazy she manages to connect to people of all ages, I generally don't like her type of music because it is usually very manuafactured. But I'm saying gladly that she is an excellent singer/songwriter. I got carried away so I thought I'd put some pictures up of her.
